Postdoctoral Researcher

Dr. Villas Boas is an expert in radiochemistry who joined the Rogers Lab in 2021 as a Postdoctoral Researcher. He hails from the tropical part of Brazil and completed his Pharmacy degree at Faculdades Oswaldo Cruz in 2010. He pursued his Master’s degree in Organic Chemistry at the Quincoces Suarez Lab, focusing on the synthesis, isolation, and characterization of polyphenol compounds with antimicrobial and antitumoral properties, and received his Master’s degree from the Bandeirante Anhanguera University in 2013.

In 2017, Dr. Villas Boas officially joined the Nuclear and Energy Research Institute at the University of São Paulo, where he conducted research involving the 177Lu-labeling of PSMA-617, pre-clinical studies, and scale-up of production for clinical doses. During his doctorate, he was responsible for creating SOP for 177Lu-PSMA-617 production, quality control (TLC and HPLC), and providing information for a phase I clinical trial to be conducted at Barretos’ Hospital. Additionally, he produced eight doses for compassionate use in multimetastatic prostate cancer patients and completed his doctorate in November of 2020.

Dr. Villas Boas’ relationship with Dr. Rogers began in 2018 when they met for the first time at a conference at the Hospital das Clinicas in Brazil. In the Rogers Lab, his current activities include labeling peptides, antibodies, PolyDrugs, and AAVs, as well as conducting pre-clinical assays such as pharmacokinetics, biodistribution, and imaging studies with various isotopes including Sc-44, Cu-64/67, Ga-68, Zr-89, In-111, Lu-177, and Ac-225.
